The COVID-19 pandemic is considered as the most devastating global health catastrophe of the century since the 2nd World war. The world has changed dramatically after the outbreak of coronavirus. Coronavirus is continuing its spread, with more than 9 million confirmed cases in 188 countries and nearly 500,000 people have died so far from the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. But it is more than a health crisis. It is attacking societies at the core. The world has come to a standstill since to maintain health safety the world is going through a lockdown period. This has convicted both social and economic breakdown. On top of that some social pressure is ruining the situation. Any information either true or rumor posted in social media spread too fast among the people. Often people can’t differentiate between real information and misinformation. That’s why some imaginary rumors have successfully created panic in society. People are taking unnecessary precautions due to online peer pressure such as storing food and medications and being inhuman to the corona affected people. So Panic buying has created a shortage of foods and medications for the people who need it the most. The situation has also increased the tendency of self-medication by seeing their use in social media which is more deadly than the virus itself. And unnecessary harsh behavior to the corona affected people is destroying their mental support. Due to the negative perspective of social media, we only see the lacking of our system to fight coronavirus. Which creates panic and worsens the situation. But if we can use social media in a positive way showing what we have and how we can use them effectively it will be more beneficial.
